Day Twenty-Nine

Today I am thankful for all of our men and women in uniform. Whether they are overseas protecting our nation and our freedom, or whether they are at home patrolling the streets, keeping our neighborhoods safe, fighting fires, and saving lives, I am incredibly grateful for them. They work hard and sacrifice so much. In recent weeks, our nations lack of appreciation for our men and women in uniform has been astronomical as has been our disregard for the law. God has placed those in authority over us for a reason, and as 1 Peter 2:11-25 says that we must submit ourselves to the governing authorities and give honor to whom honor is due. Likewise Romans 13:1 says "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities that which God has established...." So, whether it be our lawmakers or the law enforcers, we must show them the respect their positions deserve. Respecting them gives honor to God. Even if we do not agree with a policy they have established, or the outcome of a court ruling, we are required by the laws of God to show them respect. Let us give thanks for our men and women in uniform, the work they do, and the sacrifices they make. Let us pray for their safety and for God's direction in their lives and work.
