A Break from Conferences

In my previous post "Sparkling Cranberry" I mentioned my journey to Tri-TESOL with my colleagues. It was a wonderful and busy weekend taking classes, learning new techniques and networking with other teachers in the field of English as Second Language. We decided that we needed a break after all of the classes and key note speakers to clear our minds and to have a bit of fun. Pike Place would be too crowded, too expensive for dinner, and too far out of the way. (45 minutes from where we were and 50 minutes from the highway) and that was not counting rush hour traffic.
As we made our way home, we decided to stop in the tiny town of Snoqualmie, high up in the Cascade Mountain Range. It was absolutely worth it! Cloud covered mountains, fall colors, and history lining main street. We made two stops. The first was to Snoqualmie Falls, a gorgeous waterfall tucked away in the Cascades.

(steps leading down to the view balcony across the from the falls).

The second was to the old train station built in the 1890s. They had replica trains set up where you could climb up and take a look inside. The interior of the train station was converted into a book store. The ticket counter contained a mannequin dressed in turn of the century garments, ready to take our "ticket".

It was so much fun getting to see these places and walk along the train tracks. Should you ever take a trip to Seattle, go off the beaten path and visit Snoqualmie. It will be worth you time.
