J is for Joy

Wear what you love. We hear this phrase a lot, and in some regards it is true. There is nothing quite a terrible as wearing something you are not comfortable in, something you are constantly fidgeting with because it is too tight or too loose. Or worse, wearing something that zaps all color, life, and personality from us. Feeling blah in our clothes kills all confidence.
You might be thinking, “Wow, what a terrible way to start this post.” However, I say this because there are many women who feel this way, whether they realize or not. The truth is, and the truth we all need to hear is, the clothes we wear should make us happy. We should feel joyful and exuberant in our clothes. Every outfit we wear should make our heart sing. If you don’t love an item of clothing in your closet (for whatever reason) or cannot rank that item as an 8/10 (at least) on the joy scale, then it has no place in you closet.

Uncertain if your clothes bring you any joy? Go to you closet and drawers and empty them out. Hold each item up and ask yourself: "Do I love this item? If I were out shopping right now would I buy this item again?"

If yes, ask yourself: "Why?"

Perhaps it is the way the article of clothing fits your size and proportions. Perhaps it is the color, the style of the clothing article, or the pattern.

Take note of your answers to the "why" part of the equation. This will always be the biggest clue to your style personality.
