Favorite Fashion Reads


When it comes to style, I love to peruse books just as much as I like to peruse the internet. When I am looking for information with more substance than just an pop of inspiration, I turn to one of these five wonderful fashion reads.

1.The Truth About Style, by Stacy London. Stacy London, fresh from her What Not To Wear days takes a fresh approach to the average woman’s questions about body and style. Taking women from every cross section of life, Stacy addresses body issues, lifestyle changes, and aging while prescribing a style prescription that is applicable to the reader as well.



2.A Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style, by Tim Gunn. Tim Gunn takes a punctuated look at America’s fashion faux pas and crimes, addresses them with wit and honesty, then offers common sense remedies to the problems at hand; encouraging the reader to aim for quality, taste, and style in their own wardrobes.




3.Without Saying a Word by Monica Barnett. Monica’s book is an interactive book requiring the reader to assess their own wardrobe and have a personal style intervention. Monica, as D.C. based personal stylist for the working woman, offers her take on necessary wardrobe items from undergarments to shoes, and her take on traveling with effortless style.




4.Style Yourself, various authors. Style Yourself is a roadmap of sorts compiled by some of the top fashion bloggers in the world. It breaks down garment types, fabric types, accessories, and color coordination, while offering unique ways to style these respective categories, all the while giving the reader food for thought on how to apply the information to their own lives. It’s perfect textbook inspiration and fashion information.




5.Refinery 29’s Style Stalking, by Christene Barberich and Piera Gelardi. This is style 101. Barberich and Gelardi take a simplified look at the most common style trends and break them down into easy steps for the novice, and experienced, fashionista.
