Wave Shimmer Tiered Skirt
Recently I purchased and received the Wave Shimmer Tiered Skirt from The Skirt Outlet. Shimmer denim has popped up in a couple of places and I absolutely love it. It adds a nice touch without being tacky or girly. The tiers on the skirt lay flat adding a grown up flair and sophistication to the skirt.
I ordered this skirt a size larger than I normally would. The product description warned that the waist size runs small. I am very glad I did. While the skirt sits just above my hip bone, had I ordered my regular size it would wear like a high waisted skirt and cut me off right at the ankles. My recommendation, regardless of your height, go up a size when ordering this skirt.
The fabric (beyond the shimmer) is light weight, drapes well, and is versatile. I love the weight of the denim. It is perfect for this time of the year and yet not so light that you would need a slip underneath. I have noticed that with lighter weight denims they have a tendency to wear like knit skirts and cling to my form. This skirt avoids that dreaded cling. It is an A-line style that flows away from the body and is sturdy enough to hold its shape.
While the shimmer does make the skirt dressier, it can be dressed down. I chose to dress this skirt down, by pairing it with a knit twisted wrap front tee in lavender, a plum layering tee, and a charcoal head wrap. I kept all of the shimmer on the lower half of my body by completing my outfit with a pair of silver sequin shoes.
