V is for Vertical Lines

We all want to look thinner. While dieting may or may not work for us. We can look thinner by utilizing fashion, and I’m not just talking about shapewear. Fashion, through cuts, prints, and proportion has the power to make us look thinner or wider. The main culprit in our closets are the lines we put on ourselves.

Use colors to create a column of color. A column of color is often created with neutrals, but don’t limit it to just dark colors. You can use lighter neutrals like white, cream, or beige to achieve the same results. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is a great example of using a column of color to achieve a longer leaner look.

Striping. Stripes on our tops can help us create a vertical line as well. Instead of wearing tops with horizontal stripes, look for those with vertical stripes.

Use your accessories. You can achieve a thin vertical line by matching your skirts, tights and shoes. You look taller and leaner if your gray skirt isn’t broke up by your skin and then gray or black shoes. Match the three. A Gray skirt complimented with a pair of gray tights and gray shoes creates a vertical line and a longer leg line. The same works for any other color or neutral. By matching her skirt, tights and ankle boots, this young lady has created a longer leg line as well as a chic cohesive outfit.
