The Colored Denim Skirt Series: Kelly Green

Last week I wrote about all of the ways you can style your orange denim skirt. For the second installment of this series, I want to focus on kelly green. Like orange, this bright green can be difficult to pair tops with, but it isn't impossible. Below are my five favorite ways to style a kelly green denim skirt.

1.Go neutral or go home. As with orange, neutrals like black, white, charcoal, and navy are a great way to tone down and make your Kelly green skirt pop.

(in this outfit, I wanted my skirt to be the focal point of the ensemble. From the silver shoes, charcoal head wrap, and the black tee, everything is designed to tone down the color while making the skirt the center piece).


2.Prints. A printed blouse in a neutral tone or in complimentary colors adds visual interest to your skirt.

(Here, the gray of the graphic tee tones down the bright green, yet both the print on the tee and the green in the skirt play off of each other and add visual interest throughout the entire outfit. I kept the accessories simple and neutral with chambray sneaker flats and an indigo head wrap).


3.Chambray and denim. Add a chambray blouse or accessorize with a denim jacket to take Kelly green to a more casual level.


4.Color block with pink or royal blue. Color blocking pink and royal blue with Kelly green adds pizzazz and visual interest your ensemble.

(With this ensemble, I played off of the bright hues by color blocking complimentary colors kelly green and royal blue. This creates a vibrant yet sophisticated look).


5.Citrus. Kelly green is one of those colors that suits both spring and summer. Want to take Kelly green into summer, pair it with citrus hues.

(This is one of my favorites. I love how the chartreuse -citrus color- of the lace camisole ties everything together.)
