The Colored Denim Skirt Series: Orange

Colored denim is incredibly popular. Walk into any store and you can find pants and shorts, at least selling colored denim. Shops like Junee's, Jupe de Abby, The Klassy Girl Boutique and Jade Mackenzie Apparel, all sell colored denim skirts. While these colored denim items are gaining popularity, these articles of clothing can seem a bit intimidating. Through out the Summer I will post my top tips for styling colored denim skirts in orange, kelly green, fuchsia, coral, turquoise, and teal.

Orange Denim.

Orange, some fashionistas refer to the color as tangerine, is one of the more difficult colors to style. This is especially true if one wants to avoid looking like a Halloween decoration, or a summer time ice cream treat. Below are my top five tips for styling an orange denim skirt.

1. Go for the Gray. Heather gray is a soft and light enough gray that a paired with orange it will steer clear of looking Halloween-ish and tone down the vibrancy of the color.

2.Moss or Army Green. Whether you are wearing an orange blouse or an orange denim skirt, pair it with a moss or army green will add a unique pop to your outfit while toning down the bright summery color.

3.Lemons and Oranges. Wear your orange denim skirt with a white blouse and lemon yellow accessory to really make your outfit stand out.

(this one even covers tip #5!)

4.Navy hues. Navy is such a wonderful neutral. It pairs well with orange and will make your outfit pop. Want to avoid looking like a sports fan in navy and orange, pair your orange denim skirt with navy accessories and a white, moss, or heather gray top.

5.White and prints. White is another neutral color that will make your orange denim skirt stand out. However, if you’re afraid of looking like a dreamsicle bar, then add some prints to that white top.

I hope this helps you navigate wearing this fun summer color. Next time, we'll be talking about kelly green.
