Burgundy Denim

Burgundy goes by many other names, like oxblood, cranberry, and mulberry. Despite the different names and slight variations in shades, burgundy is a wonderful color. It is a pseudo neutral, in that it acts like a neutral, but can be used as an individual color. With this in mind, I have created four ways in which you can wear a burgundy skirt that will last you from October to February.

1. Color Blocking.
Wearing burgundy as a deep, rich red opens your options for some great color blocking. Colors like pumpkin spice, deep orange, dark purple, teal, gold, forest Green.

2. Neutrals.
Again, if I am wearing burgundy strictly as a color then I want to pair it with some neutrals. Black, off white, chocolate, charcoal, camel, and copper will make your burgundy denim skirt pop.

3. Shimmer.
One great way to add interest to your wardrobe is to add a bit of shimmer. Wearing a top or accessory with shimmer in it will make you standout. For burgundy I prefer to use shimmer in shades of white, cream, gray, rose pink.

4. Patterns.

I like to think that fall patterns were made just for burgundy. Patterns like plaid, and polka dots turn burgundy into a neutral and give the option of color blocking or accenting with other colors. When paired with animal prints, the animal print takes on the role of the neutral and burgundy takes on the role as the focal color.

(let's face it, I love a good floral print with burgundy).

I think it is important that every woman has at least one skirt, top, or jacket in her wardrobe that is burgundy. It is a mature, graceful, and elegant color that can be worn in a multitude of ways.
